Reaction scheme

Controlled NR/polyisoprene oxidation.

The poly(cis-1,4-isoprene) repeat unit with an explicit sulfur crosslink to an adjacent chain, oxidatively cleaved at the carbon-carbon double bond to give a methyl-ketone terminus and an aldehyde terminus alongside residual solids.
